Epiphone Pre-War SJ-200

After the Gibson SJ-200's release in 1937, it quickly earned the title of "King of Flat-Top Guitars" due to its superior sound, physical size, exceptional projection, and majestic appearance.

The early years of the SJ-200 model used rosewood for the back and sides, and this was changed for the 1947 model.

Due to the harsh realities of the post-Great Depression economy, there was limited demand for the top-of-the-line SJ-200, and consequently, relatively few were produced.

The rare pre-war SJ-200 models with rosewood bodies have become highly prized by collectors today, which has significantly driven up their used guitar prices in the vintage guitar market.

Now, Epiphone has partnered with Gibson Custom to create a Gibson Custom-inspired recreation of this vintage icon, making it more accessible for today's players to enjoy.

The Epiphone Pre-War SJ-200 Rosewood Reissue is packed with vintage-inspired details, including solid rosewood back and sides, a heat-aged solid spruce top with traditional quarter-sawn X-bracing, and a two-piece maple neck with a rosewood stringer and Round D profile, attached to the body with a glued dovetail joint.

The ebony fingerboard is adorned with graduated mother-of-pearl Crown inlays and features 20 standard frets.

The SJ-200-style pickguard features vintage-style graphics, and the ebony SJ-200 open-faced two-bar Mustache™ bridge features mother-of-pearl inlays.

The nut, compensated fuse, and bridge pins are all made of bone. The Gibson "open book" headstock features the vintage Epiphone logo and Gibson crown inlaid in aged mother-of-pearl, with an Inspired by Gibson Custom Double Diamond logo engraved on the back.

Catering to the needs of modern players, it comes with an L.R. Baggs™ Element Bronze VTC piezo under the fuselage and an active preamp with volume and tone controls pre-wired in the soundhole, so you're ready for stage and studio, straight from the RedLine-inspired hardshell case with Inspired by Gibson Custom graphics.
